Eating Large Portions?

Slow down when eating. Chew each mouthful properly and savour the texture and flavour. Put your cutlery down between mouthfuls. Get smaller plates. Fill more of your plate with veg and less with protein and fatty foods.

Skipping Meals?

Always eat breakfast, you'll lose more weight this way. If you get peckish, eat healthy snacks and still eat at the proper times. Don't go more than 4 hours without eating.

Grazing or Mindless Eating?

Graze on healthy snacks rather than chocolate and crisps. Find out when and why you eat - keep a diary and look for patterns. Before eating, rate your hunger - are you really hungry or just a bit bored or need something to do with your hands?

Need to Eat More Fruit & Veg?

Aim to try and have at least one fruit or vegetable serving with every meal. Snack on fruit and veg during the day. Try to have at least one healthy veggie meal a week - try chopping the veg up really small and using chickpeas to make a bolognaise for example. Always fill your plate with veggies before putting on the meat/protein, and eat the veggies first. Potatoes don't count!

Need to Get More Active?

Wear a pedometer and see how many steps you take in a day. Aim to increase this gradually until you walk 10,000 steps a day. Pump your arms when going upstairs. Get out more!
